Thornhill will demonstrate its reputation as one of the region’s top retailing destinations with its ever-popular Late Night Christmas Shopping night this coming Monday 3rd December. The festivities take place from 6pm-9pm.
The Community Council and traders have organised a range of entertainment. Music will be provided by the Ash Tree Choir, Sanquhar Silver Band, and the Buccleuch & Queensberry Caledonia Pipe Band.
There will be a chance to learn circus skills with performer Spinning Jenny, and the My-Pod mobile youth activity centre will give younger folk a place to practice everything from deejaying to hair and beauty.
There’s fair rides, and a wide range of market stalls many raising funds for local good causes.
And of course: there will be Santa on his Sleigh.
Douglas Watters, chairman of the community council says:
“The night should be a terrific time to enjoy the best of Thornhill: great shopping, entertainment and a friendly atmosphere.
“The Community Council would like to thank all the traders, performers and stall holders who are taking part . With special thanks to Drumlanrig Castle for the annual donation of the village Christmas Tree, Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival and the Community & Support Services of Dumfries and Galloway Council for their help in organising entertainment, and the police for all their work keeping the night safe.”
Thornhill is a great place for Christmas shopping with its range of clothes boutiques, interior and home goods stores, gift shops, cafes and food stores. And there is a wide range of other businesses offering services that will take the stress out of festive preparations.
